Personality

What is your character most afraid of? How are they defined by this fear? (100-300 words)

Failure. If there's one thing that scares Min it's the idea that he won't succeed. Rather than putting more effort into making sure he does, this often manifests in the form of the opposite. He freezes up, pretends not to want something when he does, or outright runs away if the pressure is really on. There are two major areas where this is demonstrated in canon; his fear of failure as a musician, and his fear of failure as a son.

It can be seen in the way he goes along with his parents expectations regardless of how miserable they make him in his introductory episode. They have a plan in mind for him, and by and large he goes along with this without question. He takes on a job he hates, applies to university, and is preparing himself for an entire life in a field he clearly doesn't want to be working in. Although they certainly push him in this direction, the evidence doesn't point to him ever actually letting them know how unhappy he is.

This also shows in just how quickly Min-Gi let go his dream of being in a band with Ryan. As kids they talked about it constantly, but when they do sign up for a competition he shows up uncharacteristically late. It's only a few minutes later he loses his nerve completely and runs off without a word. Ryan leaves the following week on his own, and Min makes no effort to stop him. He has a conversation with Ryan later on after another similar incident where he explicitly says he can't picture a world where they become successful. The implication of this outlook is clear. If they don't think they can, then why even try?

What is your character's greatest desire? How are they defined by this desire? (100-300 words)

What Min-Gi wants more than anything else in the world is to be in a band with Ryan. He's always had a passion for music, and what better way to make it than with his best friend since the day they were born? His parents hired him viola teachers throughout his childhood and while this probably helped give him a solid understanding of music, it wasn't what he wanted. He's held onto the stylophone he got around age six despite how other people may see it. It might only be a toy to most, but to him it's a gateway to a whole new world of creativity.

He's had a very structured life with a lot of unwanted expectations placed on him. This led him to try and push away his dreams after Ryan left to try and start a solo career, but he kept his stylophone. He would mostly restrict himself to playing it when he was somewhere alone and unobserved, but it seems as though it brings him rare moments of happiness during a period he's otherwise visibly unhappy.

Once he starts to accept he can live out his dreams it's obvious how much better he feels about his life even if they're far from achieving superstardom at this point. This is in part because he is still getting to do the things he wants, but more importantly he is getting to do them with Ryan, the most important person in his life. Although they are two very different people, they work well as a team and both are far happier with each other than without. The band is important to both of them not only because of their love of music, but because it's something they can work on together.

How will not having memories change your character? What core personality traits, if any, will change? How? (200-300 words)

While in a lot of ways Min's core personality is likely to stay the same, there's a lot of pressure that will be lifted from him by not having memories. He will probably be less uptight in some ways, and feel less pressure to conform to the expectations he's always had to. He'll have a lot less stress and anxiety as a result of this, though he is nervous by nature so some of it may still remain. They may start to creep back in if he regains memories related to these expectations, but if he's had enough time to form new feelings around those areas then it might be easier for him to sort through any conflicting emotions that arise.

Another fundamental difference is that Min-Gi's always been very connected to Ryan. He's never truly felt like his own person, and he's never really wanted to be. When he has had to navigate life without him it's just not something he was capable of adjusting to, and even then he was still going along with other people's expectations of him. He's very reliant on Ryan not only as his friend, but as someone who balances out his weaker points. A Min who is not bound to Ryan through a lifetime of friendship and memories is a Min who'll have to find his own sense of confidence and drive to do the things that he wants.

(Alternatively they could immediately latch onto each other in the TDM and I am deeply sorry for what I am about to make you read.)

Memories

You have 10 memory points. How will you use them?

Skill: 2 points.
Min-Gi had regular viola lessons from the ages of approximately 6-18.

Major Memory: 2 points.
He remembers his high school battle of the bands. He showed up late and he can remember his bandmate being annoyed with him, but Min gave him a t-shirt he'd made and all was forgiven. He can still feel the warmth of his hug. Min remembers his bandmate telling him that his dad had given them his van and they'd be able to leave. Next week. The idea of having to pack up his entire life in only a week was just too much. He remembers the rising anxiety. The words catching in his throat. His bandmate (?) stayed casual, oblivious to his fear. He didn't even look at Min-Gi. He remembers running away.

He can't remember the name, face, or context of his relationship with his bandmate outside of that moment.

Minor Memory: 1 point.
He remembers working in a Humpty Dumpty themed diner.

Minor Memory: 1 point.
He remembers being accepted into university. He was going to major in finance, with an emphasis on risk assessment.

Note that while this sounds like it should be a major memory, for him it really isn't. It was just him going along with something he was expected to do.

Relationship Core: 2 points.
His mother. He remembers someone warm and caring. They look after him, love him, and encourage him. Sometimes they scold him. They have high expectations for him that don't necessarily mesh with what he wants for himself, but he likes the feeling he gets when he makes them proud.

Relationship Core: 2 points.
His father. He isn't sure he understands this person, or whether they understands him. They care about each other, but it feels like there's a distance there. When people tell him how alike they are it just makes him feel like they don't get him at all. Even so, he remembers them as a consistent and overall positive presence in his life.
